How You Know When Your A Parent Of 3

Even though I’ve been a Mum of three for nine months now, I still have to remind myself every once in awhile. Three kids is a lot. MR.B & I often joke that we’re now in “zone defense.” We’re outnumbered. We don’t have enough hands. Usually one kid is mad, one is happy & one is sad. We’re fairly convinced that they take turns to make sure at least someone is upset around the clock. Parents of three or more kids, I salute you. It is no easy gig.

Here are a few signs you’re a parent of three or more…

  1. You often pray for an extra set of hands. Okay & eyes, too. And a maid would be nice & maybe a chauffeur.
  2. You have outgrown your vehicle.Shopping for a minivan? Crunching 3 carseats close together? The good ol’ days are over.
  3. You find yourself counting your children in public just to make sure they’re all there. One, two, ah! Someone’s missing!
  4. You get the sinking feeling that you left one of them in the house every time you pull out of your driveway. Wait, where’s the baby? Oh, asleep in his carseat! Thank goodness.
  5. If you get all of them to nap at the same time, your first reaction is to post about it on Facebook. The world needs to know just how much of a supermum you are.
  6. You are exhausted, no matter if the day has been “easy” or “hard.” You literally have no down time. You are exhausted no matter what.
  7. You seriously can’t remember what it was like to have just one kid. Sleeping in? Going to the bathroom alone? Those things don’t exist.
  8. When one kid gets sick, you brace yourself because you know each illness comes in threes. Just knock on wood that YOU don’t get sick, too!
  9. When people see you out in public with your kids in tow, they look at you like they feel sorry for you. What, this? This is normal. This is my family. This is my kid hanging on me like a monkey. I got this, stranger.
  10. When you get a date night, you feel like you won the lottery. No kids for two hours! Let’s go crazy!
