Turn That Frown Upside Down!

Last night I felt abit down, I went to bed feeling abit fedup & I woke up feeling rather negative... why?

I honestly couldn’t tell you, I can’t seem to put my finger on it.

We’ve all had those days, haven’t we?

Maybe you didn’t get enough sleep or a vivid nightmare shook you awake. Perhaps you woke up with the bitter taste of last night’s argument still lingering.

Sometimes you don’t even know why; you just wake up unhappy. (This is definitely my case today!)

Whatever the reason, we all occasionally wake up on the wrong side of the bed.

When this happens, the best thing you can do is shake the shitty mood as quickly as possible.

Consider it an act of kindness to yourself & those around you to take the time to cheer yourself up. After all, a bad mood is contagious to everyone we interact with...

I know if I’m in a bad mood it most definitely rubs off on the children & they end up acting  like little rat bags, which in turn puts me in an even WORSE mood!! Add MR.B to the mix when he walks through the door from work- he may have also had a hard, stressful day to then come home to see me at my wits end, all three children acting like feral hooligans & he’s left wondering why he even bothered coming home- haha! You get the drift!

So when I woke up this morning feeling rather crappy, I knew I had to do something about it.

Instead of focusing on all the negatives I put pen to paper & focused all on the positives & things that make me happy & puts a big fat grin on my face.

And do you know what it truly works! Once you shift your attention from bad luck to good- you’ll feel happier & suddenly your perceptions of life will seem more optimistic.

Here’s just a few of what I had written down-

  1. My family. I know it’s an obvious one, but MR.B & our three children really do make me happier than I ever thought possible. I could probably fill this whole list with things about them but that would be boring, so I’ll just do one or two.
  2. The sound of the sea. I live in the beautiful County of sunny Dorset so I always have the sea on my doorstep. I love the sound of the waves, the salty smell, the freshness of the air. No matter what is going on in my life, seeing the sea reminds me I’m just a small part of this big old world & somehow things will always work out in the end.
  3. Walking bare-foot in the sand. I love the freedom of bare feet, the feeling of sand between my toes, the little exfoliation they’re getting courtesy of Mother Nature. Just as long as the sand is not too hot!
  4. A hot shower in the morning. No matter how little sleep I’ve had, as long as I get a hot shower in the morning, I’m good to go. I’m even happier if it’s an uninterrupted shower without any of my three children in the bathroom at the same time. Which happens quite a lot!
  5. Holding hands with MR.B. We have three kids aged 10, 8 & 2 Years. If we’re all out together, we’re pushing a buggy, holding children’s hands, carrying change bags, bikes & scooters. Recently on the beach, he held my hand & it was so lovely.

What are you thankful for which puts a big smile on your face & leaves you with a warm fuzzy feeling inside? Let me know in the comments below!
